NORTHWEST CLASSIC INFORMATION

The tournament is sponsored by the Eagles Ice-A-Rena. This year we will register up to 32 Gentlemen teams. Registration cost will be $550.00 US (all checks, money orders or any form of payment must be made out to U.S. funds). Please try to have your entry form delivered to our office by March 1, 2012. Entry in the tournament guarantees each team 3 games, a post-game beer, a great time and the chance for additional play-off games and trophies. All games will be played at the Eagles twin-rink facility.

For teams that participated in the 2011 NWC, we will guarantee your team a place in the tournament with a paid entry until March 1st. For those of you that are new to the tournament, we will fill remaining openings on a first come basis, so get your applications in early!!

The Beer Garden will operate as it did last year - outside the rink. Our lobby and rink seating areas became too inviting for the underage crowd to join the legal age players in a post game beer. Please let your players know there will be no alcohol allowed in the bleachers or lobby areas of the arena and that all players and spectators must be 21 years of age to access the Beer Garden.

As in the past few years, Tailgate parties in the parking lot will not be allowed. This is the only way to curb underage drinking and help ensure everyone's safety.

The tournament rules are enclosed with your invitation. Please read carefully, we would hate to have to make a hard decision.

THE RULES

1) Each team will be guaranteed three games consisting of two twenty-five minute running time periods. The last five minutes of the game will be stop time unless the score differential is 3 goals or more. Ties will be broken using a shoot out with rules posted at the rink. There will be a five minute warm-up prior to each game. 2) Penalties will be: Minors - 2 minutes during stop time, 3 minutes during running time. Majors - 5 minutes during stop time, 7 minutes during running time. Four minor or two major penalties in one game will result in player being ejected from the game. Fighting will result in the player being ejected from the tournament. 3) USA Hockey and gentleman rules will be used. 4) Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. 5) Helmets are mandatory. 6) A team roster must be submitted to scorekeeper before your first game. No additions to a roster will be permitted after the start of your first game. Maximum of 19 players. Players may only play and be rostered on 1 team. 7) A maximum of 2 carded players (2011-2012 season) per team will be permitted. A carded player means a player playing in any pro, major junior, junior A, B or C and college Div I, II or III league. 8) All icings will be blown as soon as the puck crosses the goal line. 9) No slap shots. Stick must be kept below the knee. Face-offs will be in the offending team’s defensive zone. 10) No 2 line offside passes. The red line will not be used except for icing. 11) This is an adult tournament. Players must be 18 years or older on April 6, 2012. There will be no exceptions. Please don’t ask. No ID…No play! 12) All decisions of the tournament directors will be final.
