RULES FOR PARTICIPATION

ELIGIBILITY RULES FOR PARTICIPATION:  The competition is open to ALL skaters who are currently eligible (ER 1.00) members of either the Basic Skills Program and/or are full members of U.S. Figure Skating.  To be eligible, skaters must have submitted a membership application or be a member in good standing.  Members of other organizations are eligible to compete but must be registered with the host Basic Skills Program/Club or any other Basic Skills Program/Club.

Eligibility will be based on skill level as of December 9, 2011.   All SNOWPLOW SAM and BASIC SKILLS SKATERS THROUGH BASIC 8 must skate at highest level passed Or one level higher But not both levels in the same event during the same competition and NO official U.S. Figure Skating tests may have been passed including Moves in the Field or individual dances. 

For the Free skate 1-6 and Well Balanced levels, eligibility will be based only upon highest free skate test level passed (moves in the field test level will not determine skater’s competitive level). Skaters may skate at highest level passed OR one level higher BUT not both levels in the same event during the same competition.

All events will be judged using the 6.0 system of judging except Hockey Challenge which is based on points

Facility:  The ice surface will be at the Eagles Ice a Rena, 6321 N. Addison.  The ice is 85 feet X 200 feet with rounded corners.

Entries and Fees

The entry fee is $15 or the first event and $12 for each additional event.  Checks should be made payable to the Eagles Ice a Rena and mailed with the entry form.  All entry forms for the 2011 Eagles Ice Classic Basic Skills Competition must be postmarked by December 9, 2011.   Any application postmarked after December 9, 2011 will be considered a late entry.  A $10.00 late fee, if accepted by the competition committee, must accompany late entries.  NO refunds will be made after December 9, 2011 unless that event is cancelled.  There will be a $15.00 fee for checks returned for non-sufficient funds. 

There will be a $10.00 fee for change of each event or level after December 9, 2011  Mail completed form, with fee to:  Eagles Ice A Rena, @ 6321 N. Addison   Spokane, WA  99208  Attn. Shannon Damiano Forms that are incomplete and/or not legible are subject to a $10 processing fee above the entry fee.  Please complete them carefully.

AWARDS AND GROUPS:  Everyone will receive an award.  All events will be final rounds. All Snowplow Sam, Hockey, No-Test, Basic 1-8 and Freeskate 1-6 divisions will be divided by age into groups no larger than six skaters.  Awards will be presented at the photographer’s stand after each event or at the break (per announcer’s instructions).  All skaters in each group will be included in the award photo.

REGISTRATION DESK:  The events are scheduled to be completed on Saturday, December 17, 2011.  The competition is tentatively scheduled to begin at 12:45pm.  Practice ice will be available on Saturday, December 17 at 12:00 and 12:15 p.m. All entries include a 15 minute practice ice session.  The registration desk will open Saturday at 10:00am and will remain open throughout the duration of the competition.

 MUSIC:   CD’s must be clearly marked with the skater’s name, event, and time and must be turned in at time of registration.  Music will be played on practice ice on a first come first serve basis while time permits, please have a separate CD for this practice.  A spare CD must be available at rinkside in the event the competition copy does not work during the skater’s event.  CD’s may be picked up at the registration table immediately following each event.  No CDs, once registered, will be returned to the skater for practice ice. 

A tentative schedule of events and practice times will be posted on the Eagles Ice A Rena website (eaglesicearena.com) and at the rink.  Please be sure to watch for it.

PHOTOGRAPHY:  There will be an official competition photographer.  The photographer will be available for award photos and you will receive one 4 x 6 photo of your event available for pick up at the rink after January 1st, 2012.  Personal video equipment is permitted in the bleacher area only. 

PRACTICE ICE:  Each skater will receive one 15 minute practice ice session.  Practice ice will be scheduled on Saturday, December 17, 2011 from approximately 12:00 to 12:30.  One session will be designated for basic skill elements.  All sessions will be 15 minutes in length. (Music will be played in order as received as time allows)  Cost for each session is included in your Registration.

FLOWERS AND TOYS:   Flowers and toys are not allowed to be thrown on the ice at any time.
